Unsubscribes & Viruses Unexpected Unsubscribes Sometimes we receive reports of people being unsubscribed from HeroicStories when they didn't want to be. If you receive a message indicating you've been "successfully" unsubscribed from HeroicStories -- but you didn't unsubscribe -- you're probably the victim of a computer virus. The virus is neither on your machine, nor on ours, which makes this scenario very hard to resolve. Some third party has a virus, and that virus is attempting to spread. This particular type of virus spreads by reading addresses out of a computer's address book, using them to send email, and forging the "From:" line. Our automated unsubscribe processor has received a fake email that looks like it came from you, even though you did not send it. What can we do? Unfortunately very little. To continue recieving HeroicStories, please simply resubscribe. Since your current email address is in an infected machine's address book, you might try using a different email address -- perhaps a free web-based account. Missing Issues Everyone subscribed is at least sent every issue. However, you may not receive every issue. If you've definitely missed an issue, there are several possible causes. What to do? Just resubscribe using the subscribe form below. You could also keep two addresses subscribed to HeroicStories, in case of a delivery failure to one. Whitelist HeroicStories.org You may be able to "whitelist" the address HeroicStories comes from: that is, ask your ISP to allow our mail through. (Exactly how will vary depending on your ISP, or other software.) The domain to whitelist is heroicstories.org. Please make sure you use up-to-date anti-virus software, and practice "safe computing" -- that simply means never open an attachment unless you're absolutely positive you know it's safe. Have patience with publishers like HeroicStories who legitimately send you email. We're neither the cause of, nor do we have a real solution for, most of these problems.
